:: A Loud Call and Appeal to the United Nations, the Secretary General, the Free Communities of the World, the Conscience of World Powers and Human Rights Organizations ::
Beirut July 26, 2006
Lebanon is almost scorched and on its territory, the ugliest massacres are perpetrated. The criminal Israeli invasion has murdered children, women and elderly people, not saving anyone who can still breathe, leaving corpses of innocent civilians to be bitten by dogs and beasts of prey, after the savage attacks and destruction of routes and infrastructures, including power generating stations, means of communication, bridges, means of production, particularly dairy mills, economic institutions and facilities providing humans with the necessities of life.
The Israeli battleships, in addition to daily unjustified air raids, have polluted the blue waters of the Mediterranean and almost annihilated life therein. An aggressive and oppressive enemy exploiting political protection of certain states to exterminate human life and crumble the stones of Lebanon, wreaking its rancor on the people of Lebanon, for no reason other than revenge because Lebanon constitutes the pattern of common living among various communities of different inclinations and creeds.
We appeal to the conscience of world powers. No one can believe that there is one justification for such inhuman and monstrous atrocity; which might be described as Unprecedented in history.
Is it possible that kidnapping two Israelis to exchange them with the captives held for the last thirty years in Israeli prisons would entail such catastrophes and the destruction of the whole country?
The civil society of Lebanon, in all its communities, beseeches His Excellency, the Secretary General of UN to issue the order of cease fire. Hundreds of thousands have departed from the beautiful country of the Cedars in the largest evacuation operation since World War 2, leaving us in several blockades.
We are about to lose the sources of provisioning of foods and medicines and other necessities of life. We are facing a human and environmental catastrophy.
We appeal too to all people of the world and all those of vivid conscience and humanitarian feelings to exert pressure on their governments to help quickly in stopping this modern Nazism against Lebanon, committed with distinction as the crime of the 21st century.
The people of Lebanon have long suffered pain and oppression and long wish to stop the Zionist terrorism and put an end to assaults against Lebanon, the peace loving country.
Lebanon has barely been able to effect reconstruction of its infrastructure and resources after the long strife of 15 years of civil commotion, instigated by outside factors. Is it true that all the efforts of past 15 years should be destroyed?
Lebanon, the small country, with its haughty and overbearing people, is raising the voice loud and calling upon the free world and lovers of peace to help and move past for rescue.
We are sure you have heard our call and appeal.
The Lebanese Women Council
