 History

The Lebanese Women’s Council (formerly The Lebanese Arab Women’s Union), is a non-governmental organization founded on 6 November 1952 under License No. 3752/AD, as a result of the merger of two bodies “The Lebanese Arab Women’s Union”, founded in 1920, and “The Solidarity of Lebanese Women”, founded in 1947.

The Council succeeded in maintaining its unity despite the civil war that lasted 17 years (1975-1990) in Lebanon.
