About Us
The Lebanese Women’s Council (formerly The Lebanese Arab Women’s Union), is a non-governmental organization composed of 160 women’s and mixed associations from all regions of Lebanon. These associations are licensed by the Lebanese government and are active in the health care sector, rehabilitation sector, educational sector, environmental sector and family organization sector.
The Council is a member of:
• The Economic and Social Council of Lebanon.
• The Higher Council for Childhood.
• The General Arab Women’s Federation.
• The Arab Network for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
• The International Council of Women.
• The World Democratic Women’s Federation.
• United Nation Women’s Committee.
Structure
The Lebanese Women’s Council is composed of:
• General Assembly: It is composed of the former presidents and representatives of the member organizations. It elects the Executive Committee for a period of four years.
• Executive Committee: It is composed of 10 members.
• The Committees: Planning and Research Committee; The Legal Committee; Finance Committee; Social Committee; Cultural Committee; Information Committee; Arab and International Affairs Committee.
• District Delegates: They are elected by the affiliated associations of the Council in every district.
• Advisory Committee: It is a consultative committee in specialized fields.
• Friends Committee: It is a committee for moral and material support
